Four facing drug and gun charges in Rocky Mount

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WITN) – A joint operation between three law enforcement agencies ended in four arrests for drug and gun charges last Thursday in Rocky Mount.

Deputies with the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office narcotics unit and Nash County Sheriff’s Office narcotics unit say that they had been watching a home on Marigold Street in Rocky Mount for drug activity.

On Thursday, Edgecombe County deputies and Rocky Mount police say they searched the home after deputies stopped a car that was leaving the home and found a rifle-style pistol in the car.

During the search, deputies say they found heroin that was packaged for sale, heroin baggies, packaging material, and cash. Deputies say they also found four more guns, including one that had been reported stolen in Tarboro and a Glock 45 that had a Glock switch added to it, turning it into an automatic weapon.

Deputies say they arrested four men, Josh Mabry, Lakeevis Grant, Jaylen Hatfield, and Zikiy Mclain.

Mabry was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a weapon of mass destruction, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver heroin, and maintaining a dwelling of a controlled substance. Mabry was given a $50,000 secured bond.

Grant was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a weapon of mass destruction, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver heroin, and maintaining a dwelling of a controlled substance. Grant was given a $38,000 secured bond.

Hatfield was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a weapon of mass destruction, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver heroin, and maintaining a dwelling of a controlled substance. Grant was given a $20,000 secured bond.

Mclain was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a weapon of mass destruction, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver heroin, and maintaining a dwelling of a controlled substance. Grant was given a $38,000 secured bond.

Deputies say that more charges are pending.
