Four charged after Elizabeth City home hit by gunfire

All four suspects are being held at Albemarle District Jail.

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WITN) – Authorities say four men were taken into custody on gun charges on Sunday in Elizabeth City.

The Elizabeth City Police Department says they responded at approximately 10:31 am, to the 100 block of Forest Skipper Drive and discovered it was struck by gunfire.

Officers located multiple 9mm shell casings across the street from the victim’s residence in the roadway and two 9mm handguns were seized.

Based on the investigation four suspects were located and arrested.

The following individuals were charged with, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and shooting into an occupied dwelling and have first appearances scheduled for Monday, March 04, 2024, in Pasquotank County District Court:

Anthony McCoy Jr, 24 years of age, of Elizabeth City is being held under a $500,000 secured bond.

Javon Dashiell, 18 years of age, of Edenton North Carolina is being held under a $250,000 secured bond.

Kamari Leary 18 years of age, of Windsor North Carolina is being held under a $250,000 secured bond.

There were no injuries reported. All four suspects are being held at Albemarle District Jail.

This incident follows a string of shots fired calls that occurred in Elizabeth City during the evening and early morning hours of March 2nd and 3rd.

Elizabeth City Police were summoned to the 100 block of Sutton Drive, Speed Street and the 1000 block of Hunter Street during this time.
