Former student charged with threatening to “shoot up” Farmville Central H.S.

FARMVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – A former student remains in jail after being charged last week with threatening to “shoot up” an Eastern Carolina high school.

Jaylen Tyson was arrested Tuesday by Farmville police for communicating threats of mass violence on educational property.

A warrant says the 18-year-old from Pitt County threatened to “shoot up Farmville Central High School” last Monday.

The school system says Tyson was a student there until February 20, 2023, and that the threats were made on social media.

Tyson was jailed on a $10,000 bond.
