Former Onslow Co. manager now interim county attorney in Carteret County

CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) РA former manager for Eastern Carolina’s largest county is now the interim county attorney for a neighboring county.

Carteret County announced this morning that Sharon Griffin has been appointed interim county attorney.

Griffin resigned last summer as Onslow County manager, a month after commissioners voted to censure Commissioner Walter Scott. Among the reasons for the censure was Scott being accused of threatening and intimidating employees, including Griffin.

Griffin was county manager for four years in Onslow County, and before that, she was deputy county manager for two years.

Griffin is an attorney and partner with Mewborn & DeSelms in Jacksonville. She replaces Rob Wheatly in Carteret County, who was fired last month as county attorney on a 5-2 vote.
