Former Navy corpsman pleads guilty in murder of toddler in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – A former Navy corpsman this morning pleaded guilty to killing a toddler in Jacksonville more than four years ago.

Ricardo Montesinos admitted to second-degree murder in the death of Annaley Ratliff.

The two-year-old died on January 1, 2020, after police were called to Ravenwood Apartments.

At the time of Ratliff’s death, Montesinos was on active duty and Camp Lejeune says the toddler was the daughter of Montesinos’ fiancee.

The judge sentenced Montesinos to 14 to 18 years in prison, giving him credit for four years that he’s already served.
