Flu deaths rise again, but flu-related emergency room visits are dropping

Flu deaths are on the rise this week, but ER visits are dropping in most areas of the state.

WINTERVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – This flu season has been more deadly than last year, with the death toll standing at 246 now, 50 more than last year’s, according to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS).

This week, 14 more people over the age of 65 lost their lives to the flu, bringing the adult death total to 236.

NCDHHS reported no additional child flu deaths,

According to NCDHHS, emergency room visits are declining in most parts of the state, with the Northeast part of the state seeing the largest drop.
