Flu deaths continue to increase in North Carolina

RALEIGH, N.C. (WITN) – The number of flu deaths in North Carolina continues to increase, according to figures out today from state health officials.

The Department of Health and Human Services says there have been 10 additional deaths for the week ending Saturday,

That compares to 14 the previous week.

DHHS says so far this flu season, deaths have now reached 256, 10 of those children. Most of the deaths, 159, were people 65 years of age and older.

Last season there were just 196 flu deaths in North Carolina.
