Flower shops in the east prepare for Mother’s Day weekend

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Mother’s Day is on Sunday, and flower shops in Jacksonville are preparing bouquets to celebrate mothers.

Bouquets of flowers are popular to show mother’s appreciation, which is why flower shops gather beautiful various florals for customers to give as gifts.

“We have Calla Lilies, Gerbera Daisies, peonies, and colored roses,” said Douglas Tramper, manager of the Flower Shoppe located in Jacksonville.

However, Mother’s Day is more than just a day to bring maternal figures flowers. It is also a reminder to say thank you.

“Mother’s Day is a reminder,” said Meg Sparks, a mother to a teenager. “It puts the forefront of our minds, so we just need to say thank you to our moms because they are the reason we are here.”

Sparks’ mother lives in Pennsylvania, but that does not stop her from celebrating her mom. Every Mother’s Day, Sparks’ son brings her a cup of coffee. However, her favorite memory of celebrating Mother’s Day was when he was around 11-years-old.

“He gave me a room menu,” shared Sparks. “He hung it on the door and let me check off what I wanted. He then cooked me breakfast in bed.”

Moments like making breakfast for your mother or maternal figure goes a long way. Tramper says it is more than just creating the beautiful bouquets, but seeing a smile on a happy customer’s face.

“If we can make somebody’s day,” said Tramper. “That is what makes it worth it. A customer walking out smiling or satisfied and knowing that you helped somebody. Isn’t that the reward?”

Tramper shared with WITN that his shop is accepting local orders. If you still need to place an order, he says to place it before the weekend so your mother can appreciate the gorgeous flowers longer.
