Flags being lowered for National Peace Officers Memorial Day

RALEIGH, N.C. (WITN) -Governor Roy Cooper is ordering all US and NC flags to be lowered for National Peace Officers Memorial Day.

Each year, on May 15, the law enforcement community honors the men and women who lost their lives or were injured in the line of duty during Peace Officers Memorial Day.

The lowering of flags at state facilities will take place from sunrise to sunset on Wednesday.

“Today, we honor the memories and sacrifices of brave law enforcement officers in North Carolina,” said the governor. “We owe a deep debt of gratitude to those who risk their own safety to protect our communities.”
