MAURY, N.C. (WITN) – A firefighter was sent to the hospital after a vacant house fire in Greene County on Saturday.
According to Maury Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association, the fire happened just before 4:00 p.m. on Half Moon Road.
They say it was heavily engulfed in flames when they arrived.
Authorities say a tanker shuttle water supply was established and the fire was brought under control in approximately 2 hours.
One firefighter was transported to ECU Health Medical Center for heat exhaustion but was later treated and released.
Greene County Emergency Services and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office are assisting in the investigation.
