Fired basketball coach/teacher charged with giving alcohol to students

BEAUFORT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – An Eastern Carolina high school basketball coach who was fired last week has been charged with providing alcohol to two students.

Trenton Flemming was charged with two counts of misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

Flemming was fired last Wednesday for an ethics violation. He was the varsity basketball coach at Southside High School and also taught English at P.S. Jones Middle School in Washington.

The same day Flemming was fired, deputies began the alcohol investigation.

Deputies say Flemming provided the alcohol to the two students while off campus.

Flemming was issued a criminal summons on the charges meaning he was not immediately taken into custody.

Flemming started his job with the school system on August 17th of last year.
