Fire destroys Morehead City home

The home was a total loss and two cars were also heavily damaged in the fire.

MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. (WITN) – Fire destroyed a Morehead City home Sunday afternoon.

Fire crews with all three Morehead City Fire-EMS stations responded to a call for a house fire on Midyette Avenue shortly before 2:30 p.m.

According to Deputy Chief Dykeman Baily two men and a dog were able to get out of the home safely.

Baily said the blaze started in the garage and spread to the rest of the house and a shed behind the structure.

The home was a total loss and two cars were also heavily damaged in the fire.

Baily said the fire was brought under control shortly before 4 p.m.
