FIRE DEPARTMENT: Possible lightning strike causes house fire on the Outer Banks, 10 displaced

COROLLA, N.C. (WITN) – One eastern fire department says a lightning strike is possibly the cause of a house fire at a rental home that displaced 10 people Monday morning.

Corolla Fire & Rescue says crews responded to 907 Corolla Drive after a call about a fire came in around 6:45 a.m. Monday.

Firefighters were able to keep the fire in the attic by attacking from the third floor, according to the fire department. However, the rest of the house has water damage.

Corolla Fire & Rescue says all 10 people in the house were able to get out and no one was trapped.

The realtor company the owns the property moved them to a new house, according to the fire department.

Along with Corolla Fire & Rescue, Kitty Hawk Fire & Rescue, Duck Fire Department and Southern Shores Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire.
