Federal jury convicts Ahoskie man accused of shooting at deputies

HERTFORD COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A man who authorities say shot at two Hertford County deputies last year was convicted of federal charges this week.

A jury found Talametrius Spruill guilty of being a felon in possession of ammunition.

Back on July 16th, Hertford County deputies say they were called in the area of B&B Mobile Home Park on West Modlin Road outside of Ahoskie for a suspicious person.

When deputies arrived, they say the 42-year-old Spruill ran into the woods behind the mobile home park and fired four shots at them.

Spruill could get up to 15 years in federal prison on the charge.

The man still faces state charges in the shooting that include two counts of attempted murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon on government officials and possession of a firearm by a felon.
