Ethics violation leads to firing of basketball coach as deputies investigate alcohol complaint

BEAUFORT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – An Eastern Carolina high school basketball coach is out of a job for an ethics violation as deputies investigate an alcohol complaint.

Beaufort County Schools confirms that Trenton Flemming was fired last Wednesday.

Flemming was the varsity basketball coach at Southside High School and also taught English at P.S. Jones Middle School in Washington.

The school system says the coach was let go for violating the school board’s ethics policy for educators.

The same day Flemming was fired, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office took a report at the high school of an offense involving alcohol. The report lists possible crimes as contributing to the delinquency of a minor involving two offenses.

Major Jeremy Hewitt says the complaint is related to Flemming and that no arrests have been made at this time.

Flemming started his job with the school system on August 17th of last year.
