Elizabeth City man sentenced to up to 10 years for second degree murder

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WITN) – An Elizabeth City man will spend up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder.

According to Elizabeth City police, 20-year-old Trevor Dybowski was sentenced to between 7 and 10 years in prison on January 16th after pleading guilty to killing 19-year-old Dominique Daquizan, also of Elizabeth City on August 20, 2020.

Police say that they were sent to the 600 block of South Road Street after getting a call about someone being shot. When they arrived they found Daquizan suffering from a gunshot wound to the stomach. Daquizan was taken to Albemarle Medical Center before being flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he later died.

Dybowski was given credit for 1225 days that he has already served.
