ECU to celebrate spring commencement Friday morning

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – East Carolina University will host spring graduation ceremony Friday morning.

The university says 15,000 to 20,000 people will be at Dowdy-Ficklin Stadium for graduation ceremonies at 10:00 a.m.

More than 3,800 students will graduate this spring.

Ronnie Barnes, vice president of medical services for the National Football League and head athletic trainer for the New York Giants, will be the keynote speaker

East Carolina University Police Captain Chris Sutton urges graduates and families to arrive early. He says if you’re not headed to the graduation, be aware of which roads you take.

Sutton says that Fourteenth Street will close at 9:00 a.m. Friday morning and stay closed until the ceremony ends. He says it should reopen around noon.

Additional departmental recognition ceremonies are scheduled at multiple locations on ECU’s main campus and health sciences campus throughout Friday and Saturday.
