GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Eastern Carolina’s largest hospital will soon get a new president.
Brian Floyd, the current president of the ECU Health Medical Center, will shift all his duties to the parent company, ECU Health, where he will remain as its chief operating officer.
Taking Floyd’s place as president of the medical center will be Jay Briley, current president of ECU Health Community Hospitals.
Van Smith, currently executive vice president at the medical center, has been promoted to president of ECU Health Community Hospitals.
Both Briley and Smith will report directly to Floyd.
“These leaders’ unique expertise in driving operational and clinical excellence, financial stewardship and leading complex health care environments are at the forefront of these proposed – and ultimately enthusiastically embraced – leadership appointments,” said Dr. Michael Waldrum, CEO of ECU Health and dean of the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.
The changes take effect on February 5th.
