East Carolina University breaks fundraising record for student success

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – East Carolina University says it concluded the 2023 Pursue Gold campaign by breaking both the previous year’s record and the chancellor’s ambitious goal.

ECU set the goal of raising $500 million back in 2017, but leadership change and the COVID-19 pandemic paused fundraising efforts, according to ECU. They continued to raise money and the goal was surpassed seven fiscal years later.

“The ECU community has demonstrated a willingness to invest in our future in a remarkable way through the Pursue Gold campaign,” Chancellor Philip Rogers said. “Every contribution makes a direct and positive difference in advancing the upward trajectory of our institution. To all our donors and advocates in Pirate Nation, I say thank you.”

The university says more than 30,000 donors answered the call to break this record.
