East Carolina University board names two new deans

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – The East Carolina University Board of Trustees has approved and appointed two new deans in a meeting today.

According to ECU, the new dean of the College of Health and Human Performance is Dr. Nicole Bromfield. She will begin her duties July 1. The university cites her 25-year career in academics and her status as a seasoned scholar for the position.

“Being selected as the next dean of East Carolina University’s College of Health and Human Performance is an incredible honor,” said Bromfield. “Our collective commitment to enhancing human well-being, academic excellence and collaborative innovation in research, teaching, service and community engagement will continue to guide us in advancing the college’s legacy and impact on eastern North Carolina and beyond.”

On July 1 as well, Dr. Debra Jackson will begin serving as the dean of the university’s Graduate School. Jackson, according to ECU, has been serving for over two decades which included raising funds, gathering grants, and expanding programs.

“I am very excited to join the Pirate Nation family and look forward to working with the incredible team in the graduate school,” said Jackson.
