Early voting begins Thursday, photo IDs required

RALEIGH, N.C. (WITN) – Early voting for the 2024 primary elections starts Thursday, February 15th – and a new voting rule is in place for the first time for a statewide primary election this year.

In-person early voting for the 2024 primary elections begins Thursday across North Carolina. The last day for early voting will be Saturday, March 2nd. Election day for this year’s primaries is Tuesday, March 5th – also known as Super Tuesday because of the number of delegates that are up for grabs across the country.

For the first time in a statewide election, all voters will be asked to show their photo ID. A comprehensive guide to this policy can be found here.

Voters can check to make sure their registration information is accurate and up to date using the Voter Search tool. There, you can also find your polling place, absentee ballot information, and more.

Voters can check if their voting site offers early voting by searching their county which their local Board of Elections provided.
