LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A truck driver has been charged after his large dump truck overturned this morning on a busy Eastern Carolina highway.
The southbound lanes of Highway 11, just north of Kinston, were shut down to all traffic for about 90 minutes after the crash. The accident happened south of Grainger.
The Highway Patrol said the truck, which was full of rocks, ran off the left side of the highway and overturned on its side.
Troopers said Thomas Hales, of Kinston, was not injured. He was charged with failure to maintain lane control.
The truck was owned by Danny Smith Trucking, of Kinston.
The highway reopened shortly before 11:00 a.m.
