Donor funds $10,000 reward for arrest in murder of Kinston teen

KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) — An Eastern Carolina police department has announced a $10,000 reward to help solve the murder of a Kinston teenager.

Kinston police say an anonymous donation funded the reward that hopes to catch the killer or killers of Dzyer Gooding.

Gooding, 17, was killed during a Memorial Day celebration at Bill Faye Park on May 26th.

Police responded to shots fired around 9:20 p.m. and found Gooding dead from a gunshot wound.

Police say that there were over two hundred people present at the time of the shooting.

“We plead to the community to speak up and not let this case grow cold,” said Major Brandon Turner.
