Deputy witnesses Jeep rollover several times in New Bern crash

Corporal Kelly Cox with the Craven County Sheriff’s Office said that the crash happened at Neuse Boulevard and Glenburnie Road in New Bern.

NEW BERN, N.C. (WITN) – An Eastern Carolina deputy said he was waiting in traffic when a Jeep crashed and rolled past his vehicle several times.

Corporal Kelly Cox with the Craven County Sheriff’s Office said that the crash happened around 3:50 p.m. at the intersection of Neuse Boulevard and Glenburnie Road in New Bern.

Cox says he was in his vehicle in the left turn lane on Neuse Boulevard preparing to turn onto South Glenburnie Road when the Jeep rolled side over side about 60 feet before landing 15 feet from the deputy’s car.

Cox says that another vehicle was hit in the accident. He says that everyone is out and walking.

A nurse in the area ran to the scene to help, Cox says. He tells us that he immediately radioed communications to let them know of the crash for New Bern police to respond.

First responders are still at the scene and traffic delays can be expected.
