DEPUTIES: Woman shot at other driver on Highway 11

LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – Deputies say a case of road rage boiled over to gunfire on a busy Eastern Carolina highway on Thursday.

Lenoir County deputies have charged Gayle Williams, of Hobgood, with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

Another driver told deputies that around 1:30 p.m. a woman shot at him while both were heading north on Highway 11 heading into Pitt County.

Grifton police were able to pull Williams over on Earnest Tayor Road in Pitt County and hold her for Lenoir County deputies.

Williams was jailed and deputies say more charges may be pending.
