DEPUTIES: Richlands man arrested after shooting Lenoir County woman

LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A Richlands man is behind bars for shooting a Lenoir County woman in the leg earlier this week, according to the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office.

Just before 11 a.m. on Sunday, LCSO deputies went to a Gilbert School Road home for a report of a gunshot wound.

When they arrived, deputies say they found 30-year-old Victoria Haynes, with a gunshot wound to the right leg.

After investigating, LCSO detectives found the shooter was 30-year-old, Ashton Oneal, of Richlands.

Officials say that a warrant for assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury was obtained for Oneal.

On Wednesday, the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office arrested Oneal.

Haynes was taken to the ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, where she was treated and released, according to LCSO.

Oneal is in the Onslow County Jail.
