Deputies release video of man wanted in Lenoir County store shooting

Deputies say the shooting happened shortly after 9:00 a.m. at Brown's Plants & Seeds on Highway 258 outside of Kinston.

LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – Deputies in one Eastern Carolina county have released a video of a shooting suspect with hopes that someone will recognize his voice.

Lenoir County deputies say the shooting and robbery happened last Wednesday morning at Brown’s Plants & Seeds on Highway 258 North, just outside of Kinston.

Deputies say the gunman wore a surgical mask and left in a car heading north on Highway 258 toward Greene County.

Sheriff Jackie Rogers said during the robbery a fight broke out and the worker was shot.

The victim was shot in the hand and taken to the hospital for his injuries.

Deputies previously had released surveillance photos of the gunman. They say the video given out today was taken the day before the shooting as the man visited the store to stake it out.

The gunman’s vehicle is a 2023 or 2024 Ford Escape Active for 30-day tags. Deputies say there is a sticker on the back window and one on the front driver-side window which could be from a dealership. The man also has a tattoo on his left hand.

If you have any information on the suspect, you’re encouraged to call deputies at 252-559-6118.
