CRAVEN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – An Eastern Carolina sheriff’s office says a man is behind bars after a traffic stop Sunday.
The Craven County Sheriff’s Office says a K9 unit stopped Stanley Basnight in a vehicle at the intersection of Washington Post Road and Morning Star Drive in New Bern Sunday.
The sheriff’s office says the deputy searched the vehicle after finding a probable cause. The deputies say they found about 91 grams of MDMA, also known as ecstasy, 19 grams of fentanyl, marijuana, $255 in cash, and a handgun reported stolen in Tyrrell County.
He’s in the Craven County jail under a $1.725 million secured bond facing nine drug-related charges and three gun-related charges:
- Trafficking opioids by possession
- Trafficking opioids by transportation
- Trafficking MDMA by possession
- Trafficking MDMA by transportation
- Possession with the intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver schedule I controlled substance
- Possession with the intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver schedule II controlled substance
- Possession with the intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver schedule VI controlled substance
- Felony maintaining a vehicle/dwelling for controlled substances
- Possession of a firearm by a felon
- Possession of a stolen firearm
- Carrying a concealed weapon
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
The sheriff’s office says his court appearance was Monday at 9 a.m.
