DEPUTIES: Man arrested after high-speed Edgecombe County chase

EDGECOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) -A man is in custody after a high-speed chase on Sunday in Rocky Mount.

The Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office says Sgt. J. Jones was working an off-duty detail when he saw a vehicle speeding north on Atlantic Ave. in Rocky Mount.

Deputies say Jones tried to stop the vehicle but failed to do so.

Deputies say the driver, Victor Naranjo, Jr, 23, began driving at a high rate of speed and led the chase through Atlantic Ave., onto E. Grand Ave., then onto Raleigh Blvd., then onto Rose St., back onto Atlantic Ave. and finally turning right onto East Thomas St., which is a one-way street.

Police say the vehicle then made a left and faced a dead end.

Naranjo was then taken into custody without issue.

Police say that in his vehicle they found a gun.

Naranjo, Jr. is charged with a host of charges, including felony flee to elude arrest, carrying a concealed weapon, and driving with a revoked license.

Naranjo is now at the Edgecombe Jail with a secured $5,000 bond.
