Craven County precinct runs out of ballots, will stay open until 7:55 p.m.

RALEIGH, N.C. (WITN) – The State Board of Elections is extending voting in one Craven County precinct tonight.

The precinct in River Bend ran out of ballots this afternoon, and an estimated 15 voters were turned away. More ballots were brought in and voting resumed after 25 minutes.

The state board said that precinct will remain open until 7:55 p.m. and anyone in line at that time will be allowed to vote.

Three other precincts will be open later due to problems opening this morning.

At an earlier meeting, the State Board of Elections ordered the voting locations in Wilson, Columbus, and Robeson counties to stay open until 8:30 p.m.

Two of the precincts had trouble getting printers to function when opening at 6:30 a.m., while the third was locked out and didn’t have the correct code to get inside the building.

The precinct in Wilson County is at the Saratoga Volunteer Fire Department on Church Street.

State election officials say with 2,650 polling sites, it is common for minor issues to happen.

All other polling places will close at 7:30 p.m. Those in line will be able to cast their ballot.
