Craven County makes arrest in cold case homicide

CRAVEN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – An arrest has been made in a cold case homicide, nearly six years after it happened.

Craven County deputies announced late today that Gerard Brimmer, Jr. has been charged with the murder of Leon Carmon.

The 25-year-old man’s body was found on Woodrow McCoy Road in the rear of his vehicle on July 27th, 2018. The man had been shot.

Throughout the years, investigators have stayed in contact with Carmon’s family, giving them updates and seeking additional information.

Deputies say investigators recently searched a suspect’s home and then conducted additional interviews.

The 28-year-old Brimmer is being held without bond and will go before a judge Friday morning in New Bern.
