CRAVEN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A man that deputies say ran through a license-checking station is facing drug charges.
According to Craven County deputies, a man driving a Chevrolet Equinox approached a license-checking station at a slow rate of speed and then sped through it.
Deputies say that they chased the car and that the driver lost control and hit a house just off Casey Road. The man ran away on foot but was caught a short time later in a nearby community.
When deputies searched the car they say that they found recovered a clear plastic bag with cocaine and a digital scale inside.
Antorio Hargett, 41, of New Bern was charged with possession with the intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver cocaine, possession of schedule VI controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting a public officer, and felony flee/elude arrest.
Deputies say that Hargett also had two outstanding warrants in New Bern for assault with a deadly weapon and assault by pointing a gun. He was taken to the Craven County Jail where he was given a $50,000 secured bond on the new charges and an $8500 secured bond for the outstanding warrants.
