PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A state correctional officer is accused of bringing drugs into an Eastern Carolina prison.
Greene County deputies say they were contacted by prison officials at Maury Correctional Institution about drugs being found on an employee.
It happened around 7:30 a.m. Thursday.
Deputies say K2 was found on Destiny Griggs, of Stokes. K2, also known as Spice, is a synthetic marijuana designer drug.
The correctional officer was charged with possession of a controlled substance on prison premises and was given a $5,000 bond.
The Department of Adult Correction says Griggs worked at Maury since October 1, 2022 as a correctional officer. The state says Griggs resigned from her job before she was arrested.
