Cooling crisis: HVAC glitch forces senior center temporary closure.

ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) -Senior citizens in Onslow County will have to find another place to gather for the next couple of days.

The senior citizens center on Richlands Highway outside of Jacksonville is temporarily closed.

The county says around 11:00 a.m., one of the HVAC motors at the center malfunctioned, causing a strong electrical odor in the building.

Everyone inside was safely evacuated and no fire was found, according to a news release.

The center will be closed today and tomorrow, according to the county, and hopefully reopen on Thursday.

The center says all programs are postponed except for home-delivered meals.
