Casting agency looking for extras for movie set to film in Kure Beach

KURE BEACH, N.C. (WECT) – A Wilmington casting agency announced in a Facebook post it’ll be looking for extras for a new Amazon MGM movie set to film in the Wilmington area.

The movie is called “Merv” and is set to star actress Zooey Deschanel of “New Girl” fame.

The proposed schedule is to prep from April 17 to 19, film from April 22 to 26, and wrap from April 29 to May 1.

Filming will begin on April 18 in Kure Beach. TW Cast & Recruit said it will post more details about the extra application process in the first week of April.

The post also says the movie will revolve heavily around dogs, so it will possibly be looking to cast dog extras as well.

The agency says people interested in submitting their dogs can upload a picture of them in their Castgen account, a database the agency uses to find extras. Anyone can start an account on the database by providing their phone number.
