Businesses and events deal with several hour Greenville power outage

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Saturday’s several hour power outage made for a headache for some events and businesses in Greenville.

Around 10 a.m. Saturday, the power went dead for many in the Highway 33 and Highway 264 corridor of Pitt County.

Police were called in to control traffic at many intersections as the lights were out.

East Carolina Veterinary Service was one of the businesses impacted by this outage.

“We have been scrambling to try to cancel appointments, keep all of our vaccines and medical supplies, and proper temperatures and we had to stop all operations since the power outage started,” says Veterinarian Patrick Godfrey.

Events in the east managed with the outage like the Spring Eggstravaganza. ECU student Reid Bowens tells us that they are continuing this event.

“It’s still happening people are still coming through and everybody is still functioning so rain or shine power or no power it’s still going,” says Bowens.
