Broken sewer main causes New Bern sewage spill

NEW BERN, N.C. (WITN) – A broken sewer main caused some 4,500 gallons of sewage to spill in New Bern on Saturday.

The city says the main is located near the New Bern Mall on Dr. MLK Jr. Boulevard.

The sewage got into a storm drain that leads to the Trent River, according to a news release.

The city says it notified the North Carolina Division of Water Resources of the spill on Sunday.
