Boil water advisory lifted for Aulander

AULANDER, N.C. (WITN) – Aulander town officials say the boil water advisory issued Saturday has now been lifted.

A boil water advisory has been implemented in Aulander following low pressure and outages.

According to the advisory issued Saturday, the Town of Aulander Water System is experiencing periods of low pressure and outages in the distribution system due to major water leaks.

Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increase the potential for back siphonage and the introduction of bacteria into the water system, according to the advisory.

When water is restored, residents are advised to boil all water used for human consumption including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation, or use bottled water.

Residents are strongly urged to conserve water whenever possible. According to the advisory, it remains in effect until further notification.
