BIG ROCK: No blue marlins boated on day 4

MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. (WITN) – No blue marlins were brought in on the fourth day of the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament.

Today, 56 boats were out and 246 stayed put at Morehead City. Boats can only fish for four of the six days in the tournament.

A low-pressure system traveling up from Florida is expected to affect offshore waters over the next 24 to 36 hours. The National Weather Service has boaters facing 3 to 4-foot waves and easterly winds at 15-20 mph. Tomorrow the weather service is predicting 3 to 5-foot waves and winds blowing from the North East at 5 to 15 mph, along with the chance of showers and storms.

It was the second day in a row that no marlins were caught while standings haven’t changed since Monday.

‘Game Time’ remains at the top of the leaderboard with a 516-pound catch on Monday. If their lead holds until Saturday they will take home more than $1.8 million.

In second place is ‘Release’ with their 504-pound catch, also on Monday. That catch, being the first over 500 pounds, won over $1.7 million in the Fabulous Fisherman category.

This is the 66th year for Big Rock, which lasts until Saturday.
