BIG ROCK: Day 4 begins with just 56 boats fishing

MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. (WITN) – Day four of the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament is underway after no blue marlins were boated on day three.

Today, 56 boats are out and 246 are staying put at Morehead City. Boats can only fish for four of the six days in the tournament.

A low-pressure system traveling up from Florida is expected to affect offshore waters over the next 24 to 36 hours. The National Weather Service has boaters facing 3 to 4-foot waves and easterly winds at 15-20 mph. Tomorrow the weather service is predicting 3 to 5-foot waves and winds blowing from the North East at 5 to 15 mph, along with the chance of showers and storms.

Standings remain unchanged since Monday.

‘Game Time’ is at the top of the leaderboard with a 516-pound catch on Monday. If their lead holds until Saturday they will take home more than $1.8 million.

In second place is ‘Release’ with their 504-pound catch, also on Monday. That catch, being the first over 500 pounds, won over $1.7 million in the Fabulous Fisherman category.

This is the 66th year for Big Rock, which lasts until Saturday.
