Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament Day 2 gets underway

MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. (WITN) – The second day of the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament started this morning and lines are officially in.

According to the tournament website, 271 of the 302 boats competing are offshore on day two.

On Monday, the first blue marlin of the tournament was hooked by the boat ‘Release’ at 10:24 am. ‘Release’ arrived at Big Rock Landing around 2:45 p.m., with the marlin weighing in at 504 pounds.

This catch, being over 500 pounds, won over $1.7 million

Around 2:25 p.m., ‘Game Time’ also boated a marlin, arriving at Big Rock landing around 4:20 p.m.

The marlin weighed in at a staggering 516 pounds, taking first place for the day and if their lead holds until Saturday they will take home more than $1.8 million.

This is the 66th annual tournament, which lasts until Saturday.
