Big cleanup on U.S. 70 after trashy crash

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WITN) – The driver of an 18-wheeler hauling trash was cited after hundreds of pounds of garbage spilled onto U.S. 70 this morning.

The big mess happened just after 7:00 a.m. on U.S. 70 near William and Grantham streets in Goldsboro.

Lamont Cobb, 46, of Dudley, told police his load shifted as he was merging around a curve. The trailer landed on its side, dumping trash onto the highway and median.

Westbound lanes were closed as the trailer was lifted upright and the trash cleaned.

Cobb was charged with failure to reduce speed, according to police.
