Beaufort couple facing meth trafficking charges

Carteret County deputies say they found methamphetamines in the car.

CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A Carteret County couple is facing charges that they were trafficking methamphetamines after deputies say they found drugs during a traffic stop.

According to deputies in Carteret County, they pulled over a car on Hwy 70 at Hibbs Road around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. During the stop, deputies say they found and seized methamphetamines inside the car.

Deputies arrested 42-year-old Ronnie McArthur and 33-year-old Ashley Burchfield, both of Beaufort.

McArthur and Burchfield were both charged with trafficking methamphetamine by possession, trafficking methamphetamine by transport, and trafficking methamphetamine by manufacture. They were both taken to the Carteret County Jail where McArthur was placed under a $450,000 secured bond and Burchfield was placed under a $150,000 secured bond.
