Beaufort County Community College welcomes Marine Fabricators Association

BEAUFORT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – Beaufort County Community College had some special visitors Wednesday.

Members of the Marine Fabricators Association stopped by the boat building class at the college to teach students special skills.

In October, three fabricators visited the school and got measurements of a sailboat and fishing boat that were in need of repair. Students helped them refit the boats with a new sail and upholstery.

Wednesday morning, the fabricators showed up ready to install the new upholstery and sail. Members of the Marine Fabricators Association tell WITN there is a great need for people in the boating industry who make sails and do upholstery work.

Students were also able to give sewing machines a spin Wednesday which the association brought.

Starting on Jan. 10th through May 11th, 2022, Monday through Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. Beaufort County Community College is holding an industrial sewing and upholstery academy.

Anyone interested in taking the class should call 252-940-6375.
