Ayden man charged with child sex crimes

PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – An Ayden man has been charged with child sex crimes after a cyber-tip from nearly three years ago led to his arrest.

Deputies say that they received a cyber-tip on April 15, 2021, from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about an Ayden man that they believed was involved in child sex crimes.

According to deputies, they were able to determine that the person was 28-year-old Dantell Gardner of Ayden.

Deputies say that they charged Gardner turned himself in at the Pitt County Jail after he was charged with five felony counts of third-degree exploitation of a minor.

Gardner was released after he posted a $100,000 secured bond.
