Atlantic Beach police to share update on unsolved 2022 murder

ATLANTIC BEACH, N.C. (WITN) – The Atlantic Beach Police Department expected to release new information Thursday morning about a two-year-old murder investigation of an Apex man.

Atlantic Beach police say at 10 a.m. today investigators are to announce new details about the killing of Randall Miller.

Officers were called to the 300 Block of West Atlantic Boulevard at 5:45 a.m. on August 29, 2022, for a report that a man had been stabbed.

WITN previously reported that Miller was outside getting his boat ready to go fishing with another person inside at the time. The autopsy says the victim was standing in front of the garage when “a person in a black hoodie came and stabbed him.”

Miller, 65, of Apex, was found lying in the driveway. He was taken to Carteret Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

The autopsy also revealed Miller was killed by a six-inch deep knife wound that went through the left 6th rib and into his heart.

The ABPD’s investigation into Miller’s murder is ongoing, and they are offering a reward of up to $55,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
