Arrest made in Pitt County construction site thefts

PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A man has been charged with stealing from multiple construction sites in Pitt County.

Deputies with the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office say that they have arrested the man who is responsible for stealing items from construction sites off of Kinsaui-Willoughby Road earlier this month.

According to deputies, they were made aware of thefts from two sites where construction materials had been stolen.

Deputies say that they were able to identify 41-year-old Kenneth Harris of Macclesfield as the person they believe was responsible for the thefts.

Pitt County deputies say that Edgecombe County deputies went to Harris’s home and found some of the stolen materials there. Edgecombe County deputies also found stolen items from several cases that Greenville Police are investigating as well.

Deputies say that Harris surrendered at the Pitt County Magistrate’s Office on Monday and was charged with four counts of larceny from a permitted construction site, and four counts of possession of stolen property that are related to the Pitt County case.

Greenville police also charged Harris with three counts of felony larceny, attempted breaking or entering of a motor vehicle, and two counts of larceny from a permitted construction site.

Harris was also arrested in November after stolen property was found at his home from another Pitt County break-in.

Harris is being held at the Pitt County Jail under a $200,000 secured bond.
