AR-15 and other concealed gun found in Pitt County traffic stop

Two Virginia men are facing gun charges in one Eastern Carolina county after a traffic stop.

PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – Two Virginia men are facing gun charges in one Eastern Carolina county after a traffic stop where an AR-15 was found.

Pitt County deputies have charged Tyshaun Spurgon, 23, of Hampton, Virginia, with two counts of possession of firearm by felon and two counts of felony carry concealed gun.

Also arrested was 22-year-old Andre Brown, of Newport News for misdemeanor carry concealed gun.

Deputies on Monday stopped their vehicle in the area of North Greene Street and New Hope Road. After developing probable cause, the vehicle was searched and a hidden AR-15 gun and another handgun were found.

Spurgon was jailed on a $50,000 secured bond while Brown was released after posting a $5,000 bond.
