American Red Cross opens new location in Kinston

KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) – The American Red Cross unveiled its new office at 504 Herritage Street in Kinston with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, aiming to enhance service delivery in Eastern Carolina.

“It really is a testament to all of the volunteers over the decades that have raised their right hand and said please send me to help my community,” said James Jarvis, executive director of the Cape Fear Area Chapter.

American Red Cross volunteer Beady Hall highlighted the importance of the new, more accessible location.

“I love the beautiful location, and I’m hoping it’s gonna be very good for our public and our community to come in and be served,” Hall said.

The Red Cross provides shelter, food, and comfort to disaster victims. Hall, a volunteer since 2017, helps victims by providing support and reassurance in emergencies. “I try to tell the individuals at least we got you out,” Hall said.

The new location will offer CPR classes, blood drives, and disaster prevention advice.

Jarvis emphasized the impact of their services, stating, “Meeting with somebody on what could be the worst day of their lives and trying to get them to a better place is a wonderful thing that our volunteers do here each and every day.”

This year, the Red Cross has assisted in over 2,000 cases, including aiding 41 families affected by home fires or other emergencies.
