10th annual NC Black Bear Festival returns this June

PLYMOUTH, N.C. (WITN) – The 10th annual North Carolina Black Bear Festival returns this June with even more fun for the whole family.

The event will take place Saturday, June 1st, on Plymouth’s historic waterfront on the banks of NC’s Amazon – the Roanoke River.

The Black Bear Festival is designed to entertain and educate the public on black bears as they are a significant part of the state’s natural, historical, and cultural heritage.

The B’Air Show is returning this year, featuring the US Army’s elite skydiving team, the Golden Knights doing both a daytime and dusk pyro jump. The B’Air Show will also include a flight formation team, stunt pilots, tethered hot air balloon rides, helicopter rides, etc.

Attendees will also be able to enjoy pontoon boat rides on the Roanoke River, the Bear Necessities Paddle, Lazy River Tubing, watch a Rowing Race and end the day by watching the Reflections on the Roanoke Fireworks Show, preceded by the Golden Knights.

There are plenty of bear-themed events like our Wild Bear Tours, Black Bear Theater, a black bear museum called Bear-Ology, a children’s Bear Train Ride, a foot race called “Can You Out Run a Black Bear?”, presentations by the Black Bear Biologist, and photographing black bears.

At no cost to attend, the event will also feature live music by a variety of musicians and plenty of hotels within close distance of the festival.
